What is Head Start?

Tazewell Woodford Head Start is a federally funded program that empowers families and promotes school readiness in preschool aged children. Tazewell Woodford Head Start serves approximately 350 families in the surrounding communities. Our teachers follow a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the Head Start Framework and Illinois Learning Standards; we also work with surrounding school districts and agencies to serve individual needs. Along with educational services we provide health, nutrition, transportation, parent involvement, and family services.
